Having More than 35 years of experience in the Field of Amateur Radio, I have published many articles in prestigious international publications like, QST, CQ-DL, NCJ, Six-News etc.. Here in this web site, these write-ups are intended to give you knowledge about my designs and projects related to the hobby. The articles about foreign HAM activities are intended to share my experience.

Lot of hams nearly 10 have participated in this event along with their family members including children. Altogether we had about 17 perople in the group. Some have visited the location by Train. I have visited by my vehicle ‘Van’ with the equipment for running the station.

We have used my FT857D powered by the vehicle battery and the antenna was a 20m dipole . Sucessfully we were able to make contacts with nearly 25 stations including five Lightouuse event stations. Given the very poor propagation condition that day, this was a very good total. The new members of he RSSL got a chance to operate and experience the event while the family members and the children enjoyed themselves in the beach.

The event ended with a nice BBQ dinner. On the way back, I took the Wilpattu off-road and drove through the Wilpattu National Forest reserve. It was a good experience for the kids to see how the animals survive in the drought season.

On the same route we were able to visit Puttalam Wind Farm and Puttalam Cement processing areas. Also the Puttalam Salt felds was another attraction.
